Mental Health Support Service
Our Mental Health Support Services are a vital part of our mission to create safe, supportive and emotionally aware school environments in under-resourced communities. We recognise that music, education and wellbeing are deeply connected, and that meaningful change happens when young people are supported both creatively and emotionally.
Through our Music Over Mind (MOM) programme in schools, we integrate mental health awareness directly into the school environment. This includes structured workshops, guided conversations and music-based expression activities that help learners better understand their emotions, build resilience and develop healthy coping strategies.
A key part of this work is our Peer Mentor programme, where trained young leaders within the school are equipped to support their peers. These mentors play an important role in creating safe, relatable spaces for learners to talk openly about mental health challenges, reducing stigma and normalising the act of asking for help.
We also facilitate mental health awareness workshops and trauma-informed sessions, designed to help learners self-regulate, build emotional vocabulary and feel more confident in expressing what they are going through. These interventions are especially important in environments where access to support has historically been limited.
When learners require additional support, we ensure that they are not left without help. Through a structured referral pathway in partnership with schools and organisations such as Hope House, serious cases are connected to professional counselling and care services.
This holistic approach also extends to educators. Teachers are supported to become champions of learner wellbeing, equipped with the tools and awareness needed to identify challenges early and respond with empathy and understanding.
Together, these initiatives form a connected support system within schools—one that uses music, mentorship and mental health education to foster safer, more compassionate learning environments where young people feel seen, heard and supported.
