Bursaries & Funding
The KEYJ Foundation is committed to uplifting young people through music and mental health initiatives, where funding allows. Our support extends across multiple areas, including stipends for youth participation, engagement of musicians and music entertainers, contributions towards music teacher fees, and the delivery of mental health awareness campaigns. We also fund music-related events and actively support music mentorship programmes that help nurture emerging talent.
A key part of our work includes the donation of musical instruments to schools, helping to ensure that learners have the resources they need to explore, learn and grow through music.
Supporting Local Musicians
Central to our vision is the promotion and development of local musicians. We are passionate about creating opportunities for artists to grow their careers, gain performance exposure, and generate sustainable income through their craft. By including musicians in our programmes and events, we help strengthen the local creative economy while inspiring the next generation.
Supporting Music Education
Wherever resources allow, the Foundation contributes towards the fees of music teachers in underserved communities. In South Africa, music is often not a formal part of the school curriculum, despite its proven benefits in supporting emotional wellbeing, creativity and personal development. We believe that access to music education should not be a privilege, but an opportunity available to all young people. For this reason, we support the presence of dedicated music educators wherever possible, helping to bring structured learning and creative expression into schools that need it most.
